SkinPen® Microneedling
SkinPen non-surgical, cosmetic microneedling device for the creation of “micro” skin punctures to stimulate tissue regeneration and improve the appearance of the skin.
Immediately following an injury, our skin begins the process of dissolving tissue damage and replacing it with new cells and extracellular matrix (ECM). Microneedling allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair process by creating precise, micro-injuries in the skin to automatically trigger remodeling without causing scar tissue formation.
SkinPen procedures are beneficial because skin remodeling can help reduce the signs of aging, improve the appearance of acne scars and stretch marks, as well as rejuvenate aging skin.

"Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a topical treatment can be added to the procedure for an additional cost. The blood will be drawn, usually from your arm by a phlebotomist, while your treatment area is numbing. The vial is then put into a centrifuge, which separates the PRP from other components of the blood. It may improve the healing and decrease the duration of redness and swelling. PRP may boost the effects and help you achieve your desired results faster."

More Info on Microneedling with PRP
Microneedling with PRP is ideal for someone who wishes to improve the appearance of minor skin imperfections such as fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, scarring, and uneven skin tone and texture.
Microneedling with PRP is not recommended for those who have used Accutane within six months, have open wounds or a skin infection, have had radiation treatment within the last year, are pregnant, or have a history of keloid scars. Benefits This treatment is natural in that your own cells are used and microneedled into the specified areas. Since a distillate of growth factors from your own blood (PRP) is used, there should be no side effects from the material microneedled. The body reacts to the treated cells as it does to a wound and immediately starts repairing the tissue. This builds the underlying tissue with tightening, smoothing, and increased blood flow (which makes the color more attractive). It may take 5 to 7 days to heal from microneedling.

Who is a candidate for SkinPen Microneedling?
One of the most exciting things about SkinPen is that it can be used on all types of skin, on all skin colors. Talk to one of the ReDerm MD professionals to discuss your specific needs.
What areas of the body can it be used for?
SkinPen’s variable needle depth allows for versatility and therefore it can be used on many parts of the body, including the face, neck, and décolleté. We have also had results using it on stretch-marks and scars on various parts of the body.
How long does the procedure take and will it hurt?
The procedure typically takes 30 minutes to one-hour pending the area being treated. Most SkinPen users apply a topical anesthetic to the skin prior to the procedure. We would like you to arrive 15-30 minutes prior to your appointment to apply the topical anesthetic for your comfort. This allows for a relatively pain-free experience.
What is the downtime and what side effects should I expect?
The total healing time depends on each individual patient. Most patients have some slight swelling and redness/pinkness (like a mild sunburn) for 2-4 days. Some of our patients heal quickly within 24 hours. Individual results will vary; mild peeling may occur.
When will I see results?
Patients may notice healthier looking skin immediately. However, the natural repair process of your own skin continues to progress over the course of several weeks. Keep in mind dermal collagen remodeling takes place over time. Damage that has occurred over an extensive period of time won’t disappear immediately. You may not see the final result for up to 3-6 months following your final session.
How many procedures are recommended?
The number of procedures required will be determined by one of our skincare professionals based upon your individual procedure goals and the health of your skin. Most patients receive a series of 3 procedures spaced about 4 weeks apart. Your provider will develop a procedure plan specific to you and also a maintenance plan to help maintain the rejuvenating effects. If you are addressing a scar treatment plan, you will most likely have a series of 4 procedures.
Can I wear make-up immediately following a procedure?
Patients typically can resume their normal makeup regimen the next day following their SkinPen® procedure depending on the area and type of procedure performed.
We are happy to discuss whether SkinPen® is right for you during your complimentary skincare evaluation.
